On the 25th September AS LVII (2022), the Iron Ring did revert to Maestro Táriq ibn Jelal ibn Ziyadatallah al-Naysábúrí, as Lord Seamus Mac Thorsten had become unable to continue in the duties of the Ring Bearer.

On the 20th October AS LVII (2022), Maestro ibn Jelal was elevated to the rank of Shahyk al-Rowani, and was unfortunately unable to take challenges at the event due to the nature of his new duties.

On Saturday the 26th November AS LVII (2022), at the Fields of Gold Event in Politarchopolis, Maestro ibn Jelal was challenged for the Iron Ring of Lochac by his wife, Magnifica Juliana de Northwood, Baronessa of Rowany. The first form was single rapier, which was ably won by Magnifica Juliana with 2 wins to one, and two double kills. On the second and third forms, Maestro ibn Jelal rallied to take these forms with two wins each to Magnifica Juliana’s one win, again both with two double kills. Whilst Maestro ibn Jelal did retain the Iron Ring, Magnifica Juliana was presented with the skull and crossbones, as she had truly proven herself to be dangerous.

On the 10th December AS LVII (2022), Maestro ibn Jelal did present at the Rowany Yule Feast tourney, however no challenges were forthcoming.

In January AS LVII (2023), Maestro ibn Jelal did travel to the Crescent Isles for Canterbury Fair. On Monday 23rd January, Lord Diego Alonso Moreno did challenge for the Iron Ring, nominating the forms of single rapier, rapier and dagger, and case of rapier. The first form was won by Lord Diego, who won 3 passes to the Maestro’s single win, and a double kill. The second form was closely fought with both fencers having two wins a piece going into the final pass, and Maestro ibn Jelal managing to make a lucky shot to win the last pass, and the form. The final form ended in a draw with a win each, and three double kills. The Maestro did retain the Iron Ring, and Lord Diego was given the skull and crossbones in recognition of his prowess in taking the first form.

On Wednesday 25th January AS LVII (2023), Lord Diego Alonso Moreno did rechallenge for the Iron Ring, again nominating the forms of single rapier, rapier and dagger, and case of rapier. Again Lord Diego was clear victor in single rapier, winning 3 passes to ibn Jelal’s 2 wins. Lord Diego also succeeded in taking the 2nd form agin with 3 wins, this time to ibn Jelal’s single win and a double kill. The final form saw ibn Jelal dig deep into the bag of tricks, allowing him to take the form and retain the Iron ring with 3 wins to Diego’s 1, and a double kill. Lord Diego’s prowess was again rewarded with 2 skull and crossbones badges, in recognition of the 2 forms won during the challenge.

On Wednesday 25th January AS LVII (2023), Master Emrys Tudor did throw down the gauntlet and challenged for the Iron Ring in response to Maestro ibn Jelal stating his disappointment in the lack of challenges being made at the event during Court. The nominated forms were rapier and dagger, single rapier, and rapier and buckler. Master Emrys quickly dispatched the first form, winning 4 passes to ibn Jelal’s single win. The second form was more closely fought, with Master Emrys again taking the form with 2 wins to one, and 2 double kills. The final form however went to Maestro ibn Jelal who won 3 passes to 1, with a double kill, allowing him to retain the Iron Ring. Master Enrys was presented with 2 skull and crossbones badges, in recognition of his prowess winning 2 of the 3 forms. Thus did ibn Jelal prevail at Canterbury Fair, as the excessive heat on the following days prevented challenges from being played during the rest of Fair.

On the 12th – 17th April AS LVII (2023), Maestro ibn Jelal did attend Rowany Festival, but was unable to accept challenges due to his duties as Shaykh al-Rowani. As a consequence at Closing Court for the event he called for a Grand Tournament to be played at May Coronation, so that a worthy successor may be found to keep the Iron Ring of Lochac in circulation.

On the 6th May AS LVIII (2023) a grand tournament in Politarchopolis at May Coronation was held to find a new bearer of the Iron Ring of Lochac. The tournament was held using a single kill, triple elimination format, with entrants nominating the 3 weapons forms they would be fighting with during the tournament. These forms were fought in the order nominated. At the end of a hard fought, and skilled display Lord Matthijs Tjepke van der Horst was declared the victor, becoming the Fourth Ring Bearer.

The chronicle continues in the Journal of the Fourth Bearer of the Iron Ring of Lochac.
